Our staircase

Our front staircase started and and after Julie got the steps stained and varnished. That's it for now!!!

Bedrooms and front porch

The first room is Kristyn's...she and Denise worked a long time on the squares...her friends helped her paint her base coats. Next is Jordyn's...it is teal and brown with an orange stripe. Our front porch was poured and the base for the columns to hold up the port-a-co..

con't update

Our kitshen cabinets are in!! Jordyn shows off our mantle..Terry and I found it in St. Joseph on one of our get aways...we loved it because it is so unique. The beginning of our front staircase.

con't. with the update...

The blue and white room is Jynelle's. The blue matches her drums which she can't wait to have in her room. The next one shows the arches in our ktchen...we made them a few shades darker than the wall color. The beadboard is in the mud room..it is the first room completely done. The trim has been a big job that we have been working on for a long time. The other staining has beeen all of the doors for the downstairs, there are 12 of them and it is a long process to get one done.

I know it's been awhile...

Ok, I don't know the dates for these pictures, but this is one of many days of painting.

Snow and insulation

This is the house with snow on it...I love how it looks. They were able to start insulation last week, Feb. 22...should finish it by monday the 26th and then dry wall!! That will really change the loo of the place.

snowing in Indiana

The first picture is looking out our back windows at the field behind our house. I can't wait to be siiting there drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying the view. Peanut liked the view also. Kristyn got a bonus in her room, when it snows she will get a personal view. Just kidding when they insulate it will take care of this problem.

wiring in progress

The first two pictures show the arches above the kitchen counters. Kevin knows that I can't visualize things so he cut out cardboard arches and hung them up for me. I love the look. The next few pictures show some of the wiring that Terry and the girls have been doing. The metal plates on the last picture are nail guards...Alyssa actually hamered alot of these in place!!

The first family visit

Ok...I have not posted in awhile but that doesn't mean that we have not been making any progress on the house. It does mean that I have gotten rusty at blogging and can't get the pictures how I want them but it will have to do for now. These pictures were taken Jan. 1st when Brad, Alicia, Jacob and Anna were able to come visit. The stay was brief but we enjoyed it. The picture of the garage doors is for Rick!! He laughed about that when we were talking at Christmas. The other one of the house was taken from across the road, I wanted to show the brick work on the end of the house. Then Anna is squeezed in between one of the girls dormer window and Jacob went back later with uncle Terry and got to drive the bobcat!! I think he enjoyed that. Will try and get more pictures up soon.

Painting started

These pictures were taken on Dec. 15th. the first one Jordyn took, it shows how the top row of bricks stick out from the wall. The second picture shows the wall with the brick finished. Julie and the girls continue to caulk the seams on the outside of the house. The last two pictures show the painting started. It is the front of the garage area.

Brick started and Julie and girls caulking

Our brick was started the beginning of Dec. this first picture is under a blue tarp that they were using for protection from rain and wind. Also during this time Julie and the girls are caulking every seam between wood and siding. I do not like going up on the ladder to the peak of the roof but I am managing!! The brickers are adding extra touches to the house..at the top is "marching soldiers" and the corners have a column feel...we love it!! The last picture is the colors we have picked for the outside of the house.
